Erlenmeyer flasks are built for heat, so I thought boiling a quart of wort in there for a starter would be a good idea.  Turns out, boil-overs in a vessel of that shape are rather easy.  Then, the stupidity arrived...  As I saw it was about to boil over, I killed the heat, and thought that grabbing the top of the flask (with a towel, you know, for protection), would be a good idea.

Not so much.  But hey, I&#039;m told that chicks dig scars, right?</description>

When I turned the hose on, the exit water started swinging around so I ran over and grabbed it...without thinking about the fact that while the water going into the immersion chiller was cold, the water coming out was HOT!  Live and learn.</description>
