All Hands Monday

Oct 29, 2007   //   by Jeff   //   Blog, Brewing  //  10 Comments

After taking a week off from brewing last week, we’re back in the saddle tonight. We have a full agenda, which includes a second batch of our pumpkin beer. We also have about 40 gallons beer that are ready for bottling or kegging, so if you’ve never come by a little early to learn a bit more or assist with kegging or bottling, tonight is your night.

Another consequence of having so much beer in the hopper is that very little of it is actually ready to drink. Next week, we’ll be good to go, but if you have a chance, this week would be the perfect week to bring by a six-pack of your favorite microbrew. And for the record, the following beers do NOT count as micros: Honey Brown, Newcastle, Corona, Bud Light, Ice House, Smirnoff Ice or vodka.

  • What about gentleman Jack?

  • Fortunately, tequila is still an officially recognized microbrew, so add that to your “approved” list.

  • I will bring the suitcase of PBR’s!!!! You know it won a Blue Ribbon at the 1893 Worlds fair in Chicago.

  • PBR is also on the list of things you should bring tonight. Also on the list is Troy.

  • What about Zima? Or Bartles & James. Those old guys on their commercials are funny. Or at least they were, back in the 80s.

  • I think Zima is a micro. Ooooh! Mike’s Hard Lemonade!

  • Sorry, Walter, both are on the “no” list. Also on the list: Busch, Natural “Natty” Ice, Milwaukee’s Best or “The Beast”, Molson, MGD, Coors, Southpaw, Tequiza, Miller Chill, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Regular Unleaded Gasoline (Super is ok), Keystone, Schlitz, Colt 45, any kind of “Malt Liquor”, all white wines, Fosters, Miller High Life, Michelob Ultra, Aspen Edge, Bud Select, O’Douls, Bacardi silver, all red wines, Red Dog, Killean’s Irish Red and Yeungling.

  • Yeungling isn’t terrible and it’s impossible to find in Georgia, so I vote it off the list.

  • Doubt I will be able to stop by as I live in NY, I have some input on some good brews from my back yard:

    Ommegang – Cooperstown, NY
Saranac/Brooklyn Brewing Co. – Matts Brewing Utica NY
Middle Ages Brewing co- Syracuse, NY
Sackets Harbor Brewing Co.- 1000 Islands area, NY
    Victory Brewing Co – PA
Ithaca Brewing co – Ithaca, NY
Southern Tier – south of Buffalo, NY

    Drink New York beer!

  • Has anyone had the Sweetwater Donkey Punch? I’m addicted! I’ll be bringing that next time :)
