Beer Day
The fact that we haven’t brewed the past two Mondays is completely unacceptable. Fortunately we still have a lot of beer but that also means there are chores so Jeff and I spent today catching up. We didn’t brew but we did some kegging, some bottling, and a bunch of cleaning – so much that by the end of it Jeff was complaining that the PBW cleanser was irritating his hands (supposedly our brewmaster has “sensitive skin”).

I also made a run to the beer store this morning and it was pretty painful to pay $3.30 per ounce of cascade hops (as opposed to $1.60 just over a year ago). The good news is that our own hops are coming along quite beautifully and we should have a nice little first year harvest (BTW, if anyone in Atlanta has a dehydrator we could borrow for the harvest let me know).
We should have a nice IPA on tap Monday and will be brewing our Barley Wine so it will be ready for the holidays (as in Christmas holidays, not Labor day…this beer gets immensely better with time). It’s only our second batch and we’ve been a little scared to attempt it again because the first one was just so good. If you have any strange infections (like jonathan) please don’t show up monday as we really need this one to work out. Hope to see (some of) you there.
