iPint: Drinking your virtual beer

OK, I’ll admit I’m a bit of a technology dork and I was one of the crazies who waited in line for the new iPhone.  I only wish I had been in line with the guy interviewed by CNN:

Nick Epperson, a 24-year-old graduate student, spent the night outside an AT&T store in Atlanta, Georgia, keeping his cheer up with bags of Doritos, three games of Scrabble and two packs of cigarettes. Asked why he was waiting in line, he responded simply “Chicks dig the iPhone.”

There were practical reasons (besides chicks) for my wanting an iPhone including the fact that my 2 year old phone completely died the day before. But I confess my main reasons were so I could try some of the cool new (and sometimes useless) applications that are coming out.

I did manage to find a cool new beer related application today.  It’s called iPint and basically it’s a simple game that uses the iphone accelerometer.

As you tilt the phone the beer slides down the bar but you must dodge obstacles and manage not to fall off the bar (and break the glass) on your way to the eager hands at the end of the bar.  Successful completion results in getting a free (virtual) Carling pint.  You simply let the glass fill up and then as you tilt the phone your virtual beer is virtually consumed.  Not as satisfying as drinking a real beer but entertaining nonetheless (and if you see me in the next week I’ll probably show it to you).  BTW, it’s clever marketing on the part of Carling to release this free little game (which includes a plug at the end to send it along to friends).
