We’re ready to adopt!

Attention Atlanta. Do you have anything that looks similar to this crowding up your basement or garage?

Chest -freezer

If so, you may be in possession of what we call a “chest freezer.” Be warned, these are potentially lethal devices. Amateurs maintain that they are “cool,” but they are really ice queens. They also use electricity (which is an issue if you are Amish) and take up valuable space that could be used for a ping-pong table (which is an issue if you love ping-pong). Fortunately, you have options.

We are ready to adopt your working chest freezer at NO COST TO YOU! Don’t worry. While a chest freezer is a dangerous tool in a novice’s hands, our world-renowned expert on chest freezers, Joel, will be supervising all operations. If you are ready to take advantage of this generous offer, please let us know. Before your chest freezer kills you.

  • I know you all already have one of these at least, where the heck do you find storage for all of these brewing gadgets?

Ah to live in GA, where I could actually afford a house (please disregard my tears).

  • I got two of them delivered via Craigslist for $200. Craigslist is the best place to look. You might not be able to adopt for free, but you’ll get close to free if you look hard enough. I paid only because I couldn’t find someone with a free fridge who was also willing to deliver it to me. Fridges don’t fit well in Saturns. :(

  • @HolzBrew: Our current chest freezer is acting up. We don’t know how much longer she’ll last. She may have already died.

@DJ: Yep, we got our current one on CL for $100, though we had to pick it up ourselves. WHO DO YOU KNOW?!

  • It was a refurbished fridge place. When you buy a fridge, you can often get the company (Sears/Best Buy/ etc) to take your old one. They turn around and sell it to someone who refurbishes it, and then sells it again. I bought the refurbished fridges. The company selling them also delivered.

You might check around for something like that in your area. The place I got my fridges from was on Craigslist, but they were a company not an individual. Very cool.

  • I also heard these are a great place to store extra cash!!

  • My family has multiple old freezers like that, but they are full of our favorite old pets.

  • Blast, if you had asked me a year ago I would have had a huge one to give away when I was moving. Hope you find one!

  • [...] excited to have drinkable beer from the new Brew-Magic. We had our first couple batches after our fermentation chamber crapped out. We also drained the yeast off of last week’s Drafty Kilt, which fermented down to 1.012 in a [...]
