Brewing is on! BYOB, suckaz.

Attention everyone,

Please be happy. Like this:

Why? Because we’re brewing tonight at Jeff’s house at 8pm. Unfortunately we don’t have any beer to serve, so it will be BYOB. Joel has requested that someone bring him more Bacardi Ice Cantaloupe. I’m not even sure that’s a real flavor… See you tonight! We’ll be brewing up some Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale. Yummzz.

Recuperating…

As much as it pains us to put off brewing again, we’re going to have to. Turns out the GABF tapped us (me) out for the next few days.

Learnings from the Great American Beer Festival

GABF-floor

Last night was my first Great American Beer Festival experience in Denver, CO. Before heading back for another night of beer in a couple hours, I share with you a bulleted list of learnings:

  • There are a lot of people here
  • There is a lot of beer here
  • The Keystone Light booth never has a line
  • Beer festivals are the most economical time to drink Russian Imperial Stouts
  • 1 oz tastings may not seem like a lot, but they go a long way (see previous bullet)
  • Next year I need to remember to bring adult diapers
  • I love craft beer
  • Apparently slapping the glass out of someone’s hand and then screaming “OOOOOOOHHH!!!” is a thing
  • Obnoxious people suck (see previous bullet)
  • Networking while drinking is probably the greatest thing ever

Alright, time to load up on carbs!

No Brewing Tonight

With Jonathan heading out to the Great American Beer Festival we won’t be doing any brewing tonight.  Jeff and I are just not able to brew ourselves without Jonathan’s strange music and inappropriate comments for inspiration.

If you’re going to be at GABF be sure to reach out to him, tweet him, re-tweet him or whatever.

Bound for the Great American Beer Festival (GABF)

gabf-2010

Let me tell you what I’m excited about next week. It’s once again time for the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. That’s 455 breweries serving an expected 2,200 different beers. Joel is hoping that Smirnoff Ice Watermelon counts as a beer. Which it doesn’t. We aren’t a production facility yet, but we will be attending as patrons of craft beer. If you’re there, look out for me wearing one of these sweet shirts.

If you’re not there, then I suggest spending some time building up a healthy dose of jealousy and pent-up frustration by acclimating yourself with the breweries who will be serving at GABF. Yes, let that sink in for a second. Good, good. I can feel your jealousy burning hot. I can almost taste your tears. It’s glorious. GLORIOUS.

While we won’t have any beer on hand this year, we’re hoping that will change in years to come. And we’re also hoping we can convince the GABF to move to a Monday night. Weekends are clearly overrated.

There shall be no labor today

Rest up friends, and enjoy your last day wearing white pants. We will not be brewing tonight.
