Monday Night recap: “A stout turnout” edition

Are we allowed to use the word “stout” as a pun in two consecutive titles? My brain is telling me no but my heart is telling me yes.

brewing-stoutWe brewed the first stout of the year last night, a dark little number with oatmeal and flaked barley. Joel thought that “flaked barley” was simply barley that was an inconsistent friend, always telling you he would hang out and then sketching out. But we set him straight.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the garage weather this time of year is incredible. INCREDIBLE. It’s the perfect weather for kegging some Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale. So that’s what we did.

Brewing went precisely as planned, except Jeff showed up late wearing a suit and a loosened tie. He thought he would get a free pass from cleaning kegs because he was dressed like the Monday Night logo, but he thought incorrectly. Hope to see you guys next week, thanks to all who came!
