Reflections from the other side: 4 Mondays in
We’ve been selling beer for 4 full Mondays. And after almost 5 years of careful planning, it’s been a crazy 4 Mondays. We haven’t yet had a chance to catch our breath, but I’m going to take a few minutes to outline some initial reflections in bullet-point format. Why bullet-point? So that it goes down easy, just like a Monday Night. BOOM.
- You guys drink too much. We are selling way more beer than we thought we would. That’s not to say we’re selling a TON of beer, but perhaps our initial projections were a little modest. Jeff’s hours spent slaving away in Excel are basically all for nothing.
- Beer is fun. Craft beer is a fun industry. The people are great. And if they’re not great, they’re at least interesting. So while we spend a lot of time on things like accounting, logistics, and talking to your mom, at the end of the day, we make and sell beer. You really can’t argue with that.
- Relationships are key. This is pretty basic, but even more apparent to us after a few weeks of sales. Without the strong relationships the three of us have formed, and the great relationships we have with our distributors and are forming with our retailers, none of this would be possible. The beer has to be great, but it can’t get to your pint glass without many, many people communicating along the way.
Hand in Hand this Tuesday
Come hang out with us on Tuesday, August 30 at Hand in Hand in Virginia Highlands.
6pm-8pm. Oh, did we mention burgers are $2?
Hanging at The Midway Pub
We’ll be straight chillin’ at The Midway Pub this Wednesday 8/24 7-9pm. Come by as we celebrate our East Atlanta Village launch!
We’ll also be attempting to answer the question “Why is it called The Midway Pub?” Some say it’s because The Midway Pub is midway between “Awesome” and “Hipsterrific.” Others think it’s commemorating the historic Battle of Midway during WWII. The most prominent theory, however, is that The Midway Pub is named after Midway Games, famous for their NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat releases.
BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA.

Shh… we’re at The Vortex Midtown
Don’t believe us? Our Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale is the secret “Seasonal” beer on the menu. So be sure to ask for us by name.
Sidenote: The Drafty Kilt goes great with a burger. Obviously this relationship makes a lot of sense.
No guarantees as to when they’ll run out, so get there early and often!
Monday Night at Diesel Filling Station
We’re about to make it through our first weekend selling beer (totally overrated, by the way) and want to celebrate tomorrow night.
So come on by Diesel in Virginia Highlands around 7pm. We’ll be hanging out for a few hours. The fine folks at Diesel are whipping up some appetizer pairings for our beers. And the first folks will get a free pint glass (until they run out ? glasses are limited). Where is this “Diesel” we speak of?
Chances are it’s about 4 minutes from your house.
Get your Taco Mac on

Looking for your latest Brewniversity card swipe? Or just like Taco Mac? Taco Mac Perimeter will tap both of our beers tonight at 5:30 ? we’ll be there to commemorate the event. Come on down, we’ll be hanging out for a few hours.

I tend to read into things, but the fact that Taco Mac tweeted this in ALL CAPS makes me think they are a little fired up about this. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO BRING MY ALL CAPS ATTITUDE TONIGHT JUST IN CASE. WATCH OUT, ATLANTA.

New digs
As you might have noticed, we’ve decided to update our website to coincide with our launch. There are a few things we’ve been wanting to highlight, such as events we’ll be participating in and where you can find our beer in and around Atlanta. We’ll do our best to keep these parts of the site updated, and will be adding them in the next few days.
I should note that we didn’t spend 4 weeks user testing this new site design. Nor did we spend 1 week user testing it. It was actually closer to 12 minutes. So if you find anything wonky, would you be so kind as to leave us a comment?
We’d also love to hear what you think of the new design. We’re trying to maintain our old blog feel but add a little bit of the “Look, we’re actually selling beer now!” grown up attitude.
