A 1080 Christmas – this Friday, Dec 16

If you like drinking weeknight beer on non-weeknights, while sitting in Santa’s lap, then we’ve got the party for you. Come out to Sound Table (or, more accurately, the place right next to Sound Table) and support The Global Give. Drinks, music, and Santa. Plus your donation to help kids get Christmas. What could be more festive*?
*True, adding a workshop full of elves would be more festive. But we couldn’t negotiate terms with the Elf Union in time.
The perfect gift? A bottle opener neck tie
That special someone in your life has been missing something, lately. He may not know it. But he soon will.
How often have you wanted to open a bottle of beer with your tie? If you’re anything like me, probably not very often. But only because I never knew it was possible. We found an artisan who makes bottle opener neck ties using recycled bottle openers. No two are alike, but you can rest assured that you will be able to open a bottle while staying well dressed, no matter what.
$30 + shipping and any applicable taxes. Order soon if you want it to arrive in time for Christmas!
Local Three Beer Dinner 11/28
Ever been to Local Three? If so, you’ll know that the food is amazing. The only thing that could make it more amazing is if it were paired with some sweet, sweet brews. We’re doing our first beer dinner with Local Three on Monday, Nov 28 at 7pm. Since we only have 2 beers, we’re partnering with new Marietta brewery Red Hare.
For $40, you get a 4-course dinner and 5 beers. That’s not bad. Seating is limited, so sign up soon if you’re interested!

Reflections after our first beer festival season

We survived our first beer festival season as “brewers” instead of “drinkers.” Though, truth be told, we were also drinkers. It was a fun, busy time with multiple events every week. In some ways, November feels like the calm after the storm. A cold, dark calm, but a calm, nonetheless. This cold, dark weather has got us reflecting some on our first beer festival season:
- We need a tent. August and October are hot months. And with my receding hair line, sunburned scalp isn’t a good look.
- The beginning of beer festivals are more fun than the end. At the end, there are usually a few beers that have run out (many times ours), and there’s much more stumbling and yelling. I’m not sure why.
- “Give me whatever beer is lightest” is the worst phrase in the world. While our Eye Patch Ale is technically the “lightest” beer we brew, it isn’t light compared to what most people consider light. Sure, it’s a pretty easy drinking IPA, but it’s no Coors Light. And we’ll never make a Coors Light.
- Joel shows up late for things. We already knew this. But now we know it even more so.
- We love beer festivals. It’s really fun interacting with folks, talking about our beers, and being outside. Oh, and drinking beer.
Help us by taking a quick beer survey!
Update: The survey is now closed. Thanks!
Hey folks, we need your help taking (and sharing) this 5 minute survey. Anyone who enters will have the option of entering into a drawing for one of the free t-shirts we are going to give out, as our way of saying thanks. Feel free to share it far and wide.
The survey can be found here:

Thanks again!
A deer busts its way into Taco Mac
I wish this security footage had sound…
On Sunday, a deer crashed through a plate glass window at Taco Mac Windward, ran around a little bit (probably looking for Monday Night beers on a Sunday), and exited through a door.
In the process of busting the glass, the buck lost on antler. =(
But, antlers grow back. =D
Why would a deer bust into a Taco Mac? According to the AJC:
These days, male deer “have a higher testosterone level, which increases their aggression,” said Don McGowan, senior wildlife biologist in the Social Circle office of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Sound like anyone else you know?
Thanks to Beer Street Journal for the video
Tiny-handed bartenders need wait only a little longer for our small tap handles

We just received prototypes for our new smaller tap handles, made especially for bartenders with tiny hands. At 6.5″ tall, even the tiniest of hands should be able to wrap around this minuscule necktie.

We’re happy with the way we were able to texture these little guys. Obviously you have to be careful about the amount of information you try to cram on a smaller tap handle, but we think we struck a pretty good balance. Let us know if you feel differently.
Also let all your tiny-handed bartender friends know that relief is on the way soon.
