We built a new website to distract everyone from the fact that we are canceling brewing tonight

Posted

First, to get it out of the way, there is no brewing tonight for the following reasons:

  1. The NCAA finals
  2. It’s supposed to be 31 degrees tonight
  3. Joel doesn’t want to get his new shoes dirty

Second, we’ve [finally] got a new website. We make no guarantees that this one won’t change, we’re simply trying it out for now. If you notice anything that isn’t working correctly or could be better, please let us know. Honest feedback is appreciated, unless it’s from Travis. That guy is a total Lame-asaurus Rex.

  1. I can’t believe I’m here after the “optimized your mom” comment last week from Mr. Baker – but the new design looks good guys, easy to read, simple, I dig. Kudos.

  2. Options FTW! The new site looks great — a much more simple execution of Options than our effort to squish everything (front page, blog, widgets) on to one page.

Nice touch on the “web 2.0” widget under the logo. Looks good.

  3. I like it, but for some reason the new font is harder for me to read. Maybe I’m just getting older?

  4. John A (frequent commenter), what if I told you we were planning on increasing the size of the headlines. Would that do anything for you? Or are you just more of an “Arial” guy?

  5. I like the site! But I think it would be better if your links opened new windows vs taking you away from your blog page. It would be easier for me anyway.

    LOVE the background. Very MNB-ish.

  6. Hmm. It certainly needs more gradients. Also, a starburst badge would be good that said something like “new.” Also, it needs to “pop.” Also, I don’t like the way it scrolls. Could the poster link be wider? Thanks.. My Google can’t see it all. Thanks very much…

  7. Ok, so my only comment is on the “Leave a reply” text class – Holy crap in a chicken basket – could you possibly have given that any less contrast to the white? Geez dude, this isn’t 1997. Put some heft in that color and make it stand out. Don’t be afraid of contrast in this web 2.0ey world you’re going for.

    Hugs & kisses,

    Colin
