SOLARBAR NOW OPEN IN WEST END

Monday Night Brewing, ASW Distillery and Velo Solar are teamed up to launch a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly bar adjacent to the Westside Atlanta BeltLine on Saturday, May 20, providing Atlanta locals and visitors an innovative and convenient way to enjoy beverages from two of the city’s top local brands. Aptly named SolarBar, the “off the grid” alcohol service concept will be completely powered by 10 advanced solar panels.

Housed in a repurposed shipping container designed by Rickman Architecture + Design, cocktails and frozen drinks will be served up by ASW Distillery, while Monday Night Brewing will handle all things beer, offering select brews on draft and in cans. Cans will be recycled via ‘TheCrusher,’ an interactive recycling system that allows customers discard their cans in an earth-friendly way with the push of a button. Recycling for all cans will support Recycle for Good, which generates funds for Habitat for Humanity projects throughout Atlanta.

“Environmental sustainability and serving our community are two of our biggest priorities, and we will do both in this unique way,” said Monday Night Brewing Co-founder Joel Iverson. “We’ve enjoyed working on this project alongside our friendly neighbors at ASW and Velo Solar, and can’t wait for BeltLine cruisers to experience the magic of SolarBar soon.”

In partnership with local Atlanta solar company, VeloSolar, SolarBar’s panels will harness up to 4,000 watts hourly, with the excess being stored in a Lithium Phosphate battery back-up system to maintain power through the night. In addition to the panels, SolarBar will use low-energy refrigeration and appliances, as well as LED lighting to help showcase some of Atlanta’s finest beverages. A solar-powered phone charging station, secure and free to use, will help BeltLine visitors stay juiced up.

“We first became friends with the Monday Night founders nearly two decades ago, when Joel and Charlie were next-door neighbors,” shared Jim Chasteen, Co-Founder and CEO of ASW Distillery. “As neighbors here at Lee & White for the last four years, it only seemed fitting to join forces with them on SolarBar to serve up our galaxy-famous boozie slushies.”

SolarBar officially opened on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
